22 weeks pregnant: Fast facts

Roughly 11 inches long and weighing almost 1 lb, your baby is about the size of a spaghetti squash.

Your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. Lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct. Eyes have formed but won't settle into their final color until months after birth.

Varicose veins often develop during pregnancy. To help prevent them, exercise daily, prop up your feet and legs when you can, and try maternity compression stockings.

Gaining weight – even within a healthy range – can cause anxiety in expecting moms. If you're struggling with weight gain or it's triggering unhealthy eating patterns, tell your provider and consider seeking help from a therapist and dietitian.

When's the best time for a baby shower? Most our site moms wait until they're 7 or 8 months along.
